In issue 001/2024 of the professional journal Automobil Industrie, our article on hardware-in-the-loop systems for ECUs was recently published.
The article was written by Laura Fumfack and Johann Führmann and discusses the use of Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) systems for precise testing of electronic control units (ECUs) in the automotive industry. HiL systems allow ECUs to be tested in a controlled environment by repeatedly playing back real or simulated scenarios. This is particularly useful for automated driving functions (Level 3 and 4), as it enables safe execution of complex and hazardous tests.
The flexibility of HiL systems allows them to be adapted to various customer requirements, reducing development time and costs. An example provided describes a modular HiL rack that can be integrated into existing infrastructures. Open interfaces and close collaboration between system suppliers and customers minimize maintenance efforts and increase testing efficiency. Overall, HiL systems contribute to the fast and reliable development of ECUs.
